| I'm not quite sure why everyone see's this as such a "Happy" song... it never struck me as that. It certainly sounds hapy, but the lyrics to me seem more to convey that no matter how bad things get, we'll all die eventually. That we'll all "Float On" seems to be a reference to ghosts. Maybe I'm just odd. | |

| Basically, the whole good news for people who love bad news album sounds to me like it's based around death. And so Float on to me means death. Some dude on the Modest Mouse board described it already so i'll just quote him. "isaac is saying that the only good part of life is death...that the bad news is life, but the good news is that it will all be over soon and you will be dead. 'float on'=dead" -the sloth Made sense to me, all the sheep in the music video are going to die(float on). World at large uses the line that he'll just float on, or we'll float on, yeah, it all means death. we'll float on to the after life. That's all i got to say for right now. | |

| I love this song.. it really got me into Modest Mouse. I agree that this song is really up beat and has a really positive message. It reminds me of 3rd Planet and Polar Opposites. | |
