| This song is about both ecstasy and depression: Like 'Jenna m21' said, serotonin is a chemical in the brain and the lack of it causes depressions and suchlike. Ecstasy users usually have low serotonin levels, because they take ecstasy: When you take ecstasy, you feel GREAT. But then one or two days later, you feel much worse than you did before you took the ecstasy, and the more you take ecstasy, the worse your serotonin defiency becomes. BUT there are people who, naturally, have serotonin deficiencies or lower serotonin levels in their brain, and they are much depressed than the "average" person and more suicide-prone. (I don't mean people with ADD, although they also lack serotonin, I mean people who are too depressed to get out of bed.) I think it's about someone who takes escasy, because they're depressed or have ADD. Maybe, he/she sees it as medication for their ADD or depression. I don't know, I could be wrong. | |

| it seems more so that it would have to deal with ADD or depression rather than x beause like kopilo said justin explained on the warped tour that its about medication. the other thing people don't realize is that people with ADD do end up with depresion quite frequently. so the medicine they take for depession cand end up with the ADD meds. and you get more hyper wich makes you more depressed because you cant foucus or fit in, and day after day it turns into a viciuos cycle. exspecially when you feel like the medicine barely works. love the song rteminds me of myself. ha. right. like therapy works. | |

| you guys get so butt hurt about medication, depression, and therapy. It's obvious the song can be translated to either one. The bottom line is: This song is kick ass. | |

| To quote Justin during the Warped Tour "this is a song about medication". Hence my understanding of the song is about how we can be brought up to believe that medication will solve everything and in reality it may not fix everything. | |

| i'm clinically depressed, and this song IS about depression. once you've lived through it, you would know. it's basically a timeline of his battle with depression. at first he's all happy yay yay yay. then he's diagnosed with depression and he explains what happens. the pills and therapy help, but he still doesn't feel right, then he starts to get happier again and starts to believe in himself. then he goes really downhill and ends with a little suicide note. this song saved my life. | |
