| i think it's about everything, just life in general. the struggle and the things you go through just to keep living, when everything is kind of just a lie. we do things we don't want to do solely because they're what we're SUPPOSED to do. outline of a story board with no idea - you know when you've come to the point when you've said everything you could possibly say, but it still doesn't describe how you think and feel? language, art, music, any given outlet can only go so far? he can't get down what he wants to because he doesn't know how, and maybe there's no way to and he knows this. completely engulfed in thoughts, but the page is still blank. that's how i see it. i apologize if i do not care - it's gotten to the point that he no longer cares how he's "supposed" to act or what he's "supposed" to do, he's sick of the outside world dictating what his life should be. busy hands keep swimming & on - once you get sucked in to the monotony of working every day and constantly having to go through a mundane routine minute after minute, you realize that's what the rest of your life will be. i mean, we're all basically working right now, not just career-wise but working at life, just to KEEP working for the REST of our lives. and if you stop, if you stop trying to better yourself or stop trying to fit into what society expects you to be, everyone looks down on you, so you gotta make that motor hum, even if it's not what you want to do. forward seems like forever . . . when you're working at this day after day, and what you're doing right now is what the future is going to bring you, and that's all there is out there for you, the tiniest amount of time can seem like an eternity. it seems like it will never stop. and it won't. so much for the autographs, so much for apologies, so much for the promises i never intended to keep - fame has not made him happy, recognition means nothing, maybe he's made mistakes that he's not sorry for but was forced to apologize because that's the right way to act. promises he never intended to keep - he's said things he didn't mean, maybe about the path his life is taking, and felt in his heart he would never "sell out" (not in music-industry terms, what i mean is through letting go of your ideals to conform to what you're supposed to be) but in the end had to. Very I'm so friendly, very I'm so Halloween - definitely one of my favorite lyrics of all time. It's all about the surface. The social hellos and goodbyes, how are yous, getting along with everyone because one of the responsibilities of living in this world is being friendly to the people around you, and one of the responsibilities of being in such an industry means kissing ass basically. but the halloween reference - on halloween you hide your true self. you become something totally different, maybe something you want to me, maybe something you feel would be fun to be. but it's NOT you under the surface. saying he's halloween is saying that every day of his life he puts on an act and he knows he's not portraying his true self to the outer world, but knows that he can't. So this is what I wanted? - why do people strive for the expected dreams of "happiness", which in society's terms mean lots of money, a hot spouse, family dinners, and a white picket fence? Isn't there more? To escape, he might turn to alcohol, drugs, any means of stepping out of yourself and out of the world, but all secretly. I'm drowning by numbers - I took it as like "Color By Numbers". When the colors you use are dictated by what's written, the same way the laws of life are dictated by what society says, and it's teaching him how to drown, waste away into unhappiness and discontent. My halo is bent, it's a fat fucking lie - The image he lets on to others of what he is is completely false. He's not who people think, he's not the great, charismatic, friendly guy that he lets on. He's much deeper than that, but considering the way people are, you can't really be deep because you'll be completely misunderstood. Basically it's about the false hopes of life and the reality that it's all a waste of time if you're not doing what you want to be doing, and if you allow what other people think change the way you live. to me, that is. of course that may all be bullshit, but that's what i take from it. | |
