| did nobody else notice that the thought of the line "please let me in" is continued through the next line? it's "please let me inside the times we never had right." inside didn't fit the rhyme scheme though. maybe that'll help you guys out. he wants to go back and fix the shit that made him feel alone the whole time. at least, that's how i take it. | |

| I like Jinx interpretation off the second verse. But you guys are forgetting some of the other brilliant lines in this song I spent two years alone with you If you watch the music video it shows Motion City's Singer in a very detached and distant relationship with a pink bunny. I think that the pink bunny represents a girl that he may of lived with at one time. In watching the video you see the two characters interacting in such a fashion to insinuate a very frustrated living environment that may have inspired the song. I love the line "I spent two years alone with you" because it accents on the fact that even if your with someone doesn't mean that not feeling alone. We could have been I love this line. Just the way it's delivered, in the collective chant of the band. It demonstrates his frustration with the fact that their relationship is what it is and it never could, and never will, go any further. All those dreams he had with her will never come. just when i thought i had forgotten you came back soft without a sound And as if this all doesn't suck, she has to return and remind him about all the things they lost. | |

| I always thought he was saying "I can't swim in the silence of your escape, escape... please let me in" That makes more sense to me... She escaped him, and he's drowning in tears and he wants back in her life. But if he's actually saying "skin" then I have no idea... | |

| superelk1, you really know how to ruin a song. Why is it so important to know the meaning of a song anwyays? It is left open for self interuptation but I highly doubt he is just being perverted. You're simple minded and it is annoying. | |

| well uys here's what i think ... when he says "you left me an ocean" he means a myriad of opportunity and whe he says " I can't swim" he uses a pun to explain how he is drowning , or lost without her ... | |

| "you hit the road and left me an ocean i can’t swim in the silence of your skin skin" Ever think it means "left me an ocean" He cried and ocean of tears... ...."I cant swim in the silence of your skin, skin" Meaning he cant swim in the ocean of tears she left in him with out her there, so all he does is drown? Idk my opinion, better than the "perverted" one, where the hell did that come from? And "Escape, escape" makes sense too... | |
