| when harry met sally... the entire basis of that movie was the fact that men and women can never really truly be friends. there is always unseen sexual tension that one day will be found and acted upon. i think the song is about how you can't be best friends with the one you find attractive because no matter what you feel, it will always be there on some level that you won't be able to change. he's saying that she's one of his good good friends but he keeps looking to her for something more. and once he gets it "hooray for the madness", he realizes that it will never be the same. | |

| Just using the words "make out kids never had a chance to be best friends", I can relate to this song a lot. Once you make out with somebody that could have been a best friend, nothing is the same again. You two have nothing in common anymore, besides the same lust towards each other. Seeing similarites is almost impossible, all that is seen are the differences, and ultimately,in the end, the two cant be friends. "we fail to keep in touch these days i'm liquid cold, she's motor grey hollowed by circumstance that pushed us both away " After the hook up, what is there to talk about? They failed to keep in touch, and the circumstances are that things changed, they couldnt be friends, and moved on, because it was only lust, and couldnt ever develop into anything more, pushing the two away from eachother. Yeah thats what i got.. | |

| The song is about how when you lust for someone, you never got a chance to really know them. It's about these kids who just have a physical relationship, and it could be so much more. But they neever knew it, they never really had a chance. Simply because they were/are "make out kids". | |

| i love the cordon bleu line... it's so clever, and any band that can use something that random in a song is truly great what does "twin peaks afternoons" mean? | |
