I think this song sets the tone for the alblum, I mean it is a pretty apocalyptic piece when viewed from one perspective. At first I thought that this song should have gone at the end, but then i thought about it; "apocalypse please" is kind of subtitle for the alblum, pointing out what is, I think, supposed to be the theme. It could also be Matt trying to get a rise out of all of us...you just wait, one day he's gonna have his own little army of fanatics marching on all of the world's capitals.

Why hasn't anyone posted on this? The meaning is pretty obvious from the song title and the words, I guess. But that doesnt mean you can't post on it! I love this song. Just like every other Muse song. I am in love with Matt Bellamy and am not afraid to tell you all that.

alternate meaning: If this album was to be placed in chronological order representing a reltionship, AP would come at the end, and it would be about the end of a relationship...

i think it might kind of be like a "bring it on" to god or religious people or whatever. "its time we saw a miracle. come on, its time for something biblical."- i think they are saying if there is gonna be an apocalypse, then lets fucking have it...

The whole Absolution album is about looking inside ourselves and finding our weaknesses and sins; asking for forgiveness from God (if he exists) and/or each other for them, and then realising that if we all really work together, we can change things for the better before it's all too late and we destroy ourselves. I agree with chaos8879 here. We're being told to make a difference, and change things for the better. But it's also about the kind of war thing as well, the fact that we are likely to destroy ourselves. Matt Bellamy said "''There's been this religious fear in the air the last few years,'' he says, ''a belief that religion could cause wars. … I'm not a religious person myself. But I wanted to put the mood into words, and I used the words of a religious fanatic.'' I suppose the album is also about realisation that there is no God, and that the only way things are going to improve is that we do it on our own, and we have faith in ourselves, not blindly in some being that may never come to save us. Fury was meant to be on the album, the chorus says "And we'll pray that there's no God to punish us and make a fuss". If there is a God, we'll just be destroyed for what we have done to the Earth. So we have to save ourselves.
