| to me i think this song is that men of religion often think about heaven and pray before they die and this song askes the question what does an atheiest think of as he obviously doesnt think he will go to heaven but that this truely is the end and it scares him that this is all he has to look forward to. | |

| as Father Brown (a character created by G.K. Chesterton... good stories, I recommend them.) put it, "What we dread the most is a maze with no center. That is why atheism is a nightmare" | |

| I'm gonna agree and say it's pretty obvious by the title, Muse doesn't go out of their way on Absolution to try and hide meaning. I also feel Absolution was Album of the Year, even though it probably won't win the award anywhere, nothing else was as good as a whole piece of music this year. The whole disc ties together in a theme which is something you don't see often, and this is my favorite track off it. | |

| bibis817 is pretty much right, alongside the rest of the views here But you are not an athiest if when you reach your end, and question your beliefs. Someone who believes there is nothing beyond life except dreams, should be content with that fact. Because it's the truth. After life, we dream. And the end is never seen. If an athiest dies, their end will never come. Maybe they realise this, what I realised already. And are scared that it will never end. | |

| ok, i left my above answer a little unexplained...yes this is about the thoughts of a dying aethist, meaning hes not religious, however that doesn't mean he doesnt have something else to believe in. I.e. Alien conspiracies, spirituality. "I know your in this room im sure iv heard you sigh.. where our worlds collide" spirit worlds? Haunted bed rooms? Far fetched as it sounds thats how I interpret this song. Also; everyone has their own beliefs as to what happens to them when they die, I think this is a song about those unlucky who people who find something to believe in, and spend their dying days in absolute depression, when they could be enlightening and joyful days. | |

| I think that the guy's about to die and he's scared because, as the title suggests, he is an atheist and he has not faith, so he's scared about whats goin 2 happen 2 him after he dies. | |

| But I believe, heaven to be a bribe and hell to be a threat. Don't let fear run your life. Religion kills, Reason FULFILLS. | |
