| I think this song is about a self-harming person.. who has changed alot from the way they once were...and now they dont know who they are, or what they want to be. | |

| Come on people, post on this song, it's as beautiful as you're getting, and how high is Matt's voice!!?? To me this song is addressing the issue of self-mutilation.. it's about a teenager who thinks they are so alone and no-one is listening to them so they hurt themselves to feel better and to release the pain, even though they know that that is messed up-"all the scars on your skin, 'post no bills'". This song urges you to just be yourself, because you were a beautiful person before and this change isn't healthy and isn't right for you... I think Matt is saying that self-harming changes people a lot more than just physically and that eventually you will become a different person. You shouldn't hide yourself away from people, you should stand up and say 'this is who I am, not who I have become'. Anyone wants to talk about Muse or other kickass bands then feel free to e-mail me. | |

| this song as someone has already pointed out was originally called Razor Blades.. I remember finding that out and suddenly the song made such perfect sense. It clearly talks about teenage depression and self harm. I swear the opening lyric is "you're so lonely" contrary to endless lyrics sites :S its that in the original Razor Blades anyhow, and this reflects the idea that there is no one more lonely than the person who is lonely in a crowd of people; the person surrounded by popular people with lots of friends but who has none of their own. This is synonymous with unpopular teenagers. Also "the scars on your skin post no bills" I take this as meaning that the self inflicted scars don't solve anything. The rest of it speaks for itself. I love this song, I can relate to it so badly. | |

| this is the Muse song that hits home for me, and i think it hits home for a ton more teenagers out there who have listened to it before. Screenagers are teenagers who are obsessed with the internet. and technology. but in my eyes, it looks to me like it is about a teenager who has some kind of depression, puts up a screen (not a computer in a sense), and hides him or herself from the world, especially the family. they self harm, and do whatever they can to make themselves feel wanted and known somehow. it's a sad song, and to be honest? i feel it, it makes me cry. in the chorus when he says "who you were, was so beautiful, remember who... who you were", it is almost as if he is asking for the kid to say what's wrong, you don't have to do this. | |

| ahhh these lyrics are sooo tru. its depressing how i could relate this song to so many of my friends. i believe it is about self harm but the real point of it is to explain the way that some teenagers are confined by their own choices that lead them astray. And the real bummer is that no one can help them because they led themselves along this path of destruction. Perhaps its kinda like a social commentary on the world that teenagers have trapped themselves in and the escape they seek through means of self harm. Scars, mirrors, cracks. Teenagers seem to be able to relate to these things. Perhaps Matt is saying they have descended into... self destruction... lol. anyway, this song really speaks to me. but, seriously, its not just about self harm. thats different. matt is talking bout consequences, choices, decisions, opinions and attitudes. This song is telling teenagers that they are not themselves and what they have done has forced them into a worse position than where they were originally. I wish i could broadcast it to everyone out there who has made mistakes like these. It makes people think. thats why i love muse so much. rock on muse and good luck for the Q awards!!! (nominated for best live act and best act in the world) f*** yeah!!!!! | |
