| Hahahahaha at Davetheinvincible, knowing some members of this site people might beleive you. As previously adressed it's about an alcohol addiction and it's caused him to do something bad "That you would turn on me", doesn't address what that is which leaves it as a bit of a generality. In regards to alcohol freezing point I doubt thats what it refers to more that it warms him up and keeps him frozen in a dull state and besides malt liquor should be kept at room temp ;). In regards to the word "Solid" it prolly just refers to the strength of the alcohol or is a reference that he can lean on it. Ha I loved it on GT3, I didn't realise till I bought Showbiz that it was Muse on it allthough I think GT3's version is slightly different, slightly less cynical dark sound to it, hence perhaps your uncertainty. | |

| I think there is a very interesting parallel in this song with regard to the lyric "And you're the only reason / That I remain unfrozen." Alcohol happens to freeze at a much, much cooler temperature than water (-173 degrees fahrenheit to be precise). It's why you keep vodka in the freezer -- it keeps it cold, and it won't freeze solid. Matt's certainly clever enough to have intended a connection. | |

| Finally a song that combines my two loves, Muse and whiskey. I think the two hardest lines to figure out are why he keeps calling it solid, and why he's remained unfrozen. My experience with alcoholism, it's like the only thing that keeps you from dying (or so you feel) is having that first drink of the day. He then adds the irony of it "turning on me", because in fact, the drinking is what's killing you. It's in the same vein that it feels solid, because even thought the alcohol is a liquid, it's the only firm ground an alcoholic has to stand on. | |
