Actually, "fairies" could make just as much sense. They are "castles in the air"; mere fantasy. It's difficult to imagine what this song might be about without knowing much about the band and/or their views, but like other songs appear to be perhaps its politically themed, or similarly, perhaps it is regarding religion. But the idea of religion might be a ridiculous interpretation, especially because the words "belief" and "divine" are used, among some of the other terminology that hints at some kind of authoritative control. They could be metaphorical for something else. Unfortunately, I'm very tired at the moment and don't know what they/it could be. :o/ Perhaps someone else will come along with an intruiging interpretation.

This continues the themes of revolt in Exo-Politics and Assassin. I absolutely love the Mexican and somewhat Middle Eastern feelings in this song- very interesting forays into different styles. The Spanish element is also in the next song, Hoodoo, even more obviously. This song seems to be the climax of the revolutionary movement suggested by this album.

Hmm, I think you people are retarded. Something tells me MUSE doesn't give a shit about U.S. politics, being as they are British and spend very little time in the U.S.

No way! This is about the "Illuminati", like the rest of this album, and Absolution is about it too. Matt get "involved" in this scary stuff when he read "Ruled By Secrecy"... In my point of view the city of delusions is a society where we may think that we are free, but that is an ilusion... cause we are ruled by secrecy, ruled by "the All Seeing Eye" (the big brother), and we are apathic about it cause we donŽt care. Get informed about Illuminati and youŽll understand what iŽm talking about lolol... Sorry about my english... :S

si, fully agree with that one! in my german enviroment, I could also see parallels to Hitler and his Nazis who build the 1000 year lasting German Empire ;-) which of course was jsut delusional, too. well don't really wanna see this connection, but maybe this seems so, because there are parallels between ... dont mind ;-)

Agree with lucky, not with Gabriel88. America started the war, there is no way it isn't about DC in some way or form.
