This is the most powerful song i've ever heard - the solo has the best use of guitar effects i've ever heard and matt's voice is so emotional, especially on the chorus "for one moment..." and the quiet bridge. It's about meeting new people who seem friendly but turn out not to care and end up either ignoring or backstabbing him in my opinion. I like xfinchfanx's opinion too.

This song is plain and simple, really listen or read as you hear the song, he said in a NME its about rape, a friend of his got raped a while back and he wrote her this song to try and support her.

I think it's about how people are always critsizing and questioning him and won't leave him alone.

Perhaps matt has been cheating or min some other way distant and when his girlfriend asks him about what he's feeling, he cant stand her inquisition or explain himself and tragically the love ends cos of this.

i just love the phaser sound at the end, the way such a powerful song just eases out.

Hmmmmm, I've never really thought about what this song is about even though everytime I listen to it I get the 'tingles'. When I just read through the lyrics then I was thinking that it was about growing up and learning stuff about the world, remembering his childhood when he 'used to be so free'. Maybe, maybe not. Anyway, great great song.

the last verse is so emotional, it nearly makes me cry. An amazing song. My friend wants this song played at his funeral, jst for the last verse. Emotional song, great melody, and really good guitar work

Its two songs, the rhapsody sort of effect of the second song was to balance how heavy the first song. The first song is the "citizen" part, the second is "erased".

Just read xFinchFanx's interpretation. (Finch are amazing by the way) I like you're view on it. Makes sense.
