another thing that leads me to believe that J-Mann plays the suicidal one it the simplist clue.. " rembrandt in my right hand " that can also be taken in another way than suicide, but that's the most obvious one.

Everyone's ideas that ive heard for the meaning of this song are pretty good. THere is one part that I would like explained though. WHat exactly is "The new masterpiece" From watch the video I thought the new masterpiece was represented by the wooden rabit, but Im still not quite sure what its suppost to signfy. Great song and a great band.

well, i agree with you all.. now, i didn't know about them writing lyrics seperately... my take on this is J-Mann takes the role of the suicidal/depressed one. As of Jeffery Nothing.. well, that one's hard to decipher. It all depends on how you think of it. If you think of it as 2 different songs, then Jeffery takes the role of the one that had to suffer and fight for everything "passing it off like some kind of king you don't know peace til' you've had suffering ". now, who it is directed to, I have no idea but I assume it's directed to those who were handed everything on a silver platter.

Dude, if you dont like mushroomhead, fine, but dont take up the message board with you talking crap about them. Anyway, anyone have an idea as to what "the new masterpiece" refers to? I think Lorcado is on the money with his explanation of the song, that can espically be seen in the video.

I agree with andamizer. This song could mean a lot on the perspective of time and mortality. Solitaire is a type of diamond. I think the title in itself is saying that nothing lasts forever. Everything and everyone is condemned to life and death, so people need to wake up and use their lives to amount to something. Time ticks away these last few moments... is there anything we've left unsaid? Basically, the end is going to come and people don't realize it until they're staring death in the face and then there are things that should have been said or done when they had time. I'm on a quest for atonement, got to find a peice of mind and a place to rest... Need to make everything the best I can and accept what life is. Even the sounds eem to progress through ages... the begining starts off with random sounds, then sounds almost like a toy, a simple melody. Then it explodes into full fledged guitar and gradually becomes more reflective with the repeated lyrics and keyboards. The end goes strand by strand and fades out. Makes me think of life, newborn, growing, childhood, adolesence, adulthood, and old age. Everyone fades away but when each generation has a responsibility to work with the next they create world (masterpiece) for their children. This is just something I thought up with a friend. I'm not sure if it's anythihng like what Mushroomhead had in mind but I find it interesting and no one else seems to have mentioned this view.
