This song was the one that made me decide i REALLY need to check this band out. It's a love song, yeah, about nothing being quite certain in your world but the one you love, or something like that. MilfordMir, i think part of the motivation for The Network, as well as a gimmick, was that they probably had all these songs that, while written by Green Day, wern't quite Green Day (can you imagine Green Day putting out Joe Robot on American Idiot? It wouldn't really fit.) They wanted to create some 80's synth-y music, and couldn't really do that in the band they were in. At the same time, i don't really think they wanted The Network to have all it's success off the back of Green Day, or for people to have previous expectations of them, so they pretended to be different people. Quite thinly, but they still deny that they are The Network. Anyhoo, that's what i think.

I like this song very much..what do you think the breaths in the background mean??? to me it's a guy having an orgasm...or someone agonizing.....both are reasonable....

I agree with what whatshername said. It amazes me too. It's sad more people don't take the time to really look at their lyrics. If people did, I can guarantee you they would have a massive amount of fans. (even more than they do now) I hope more people realize just how great hey are in the future. If not, I'm going to have to conform the damn world to love Green Day. Haha, okay, not that drastic.

Love this song. They're still so Green Day, even when they try to "disguise" themselves. They mess with all the dynamics, etc, but GD still shows through it. Why did they do this? I mean, what was their motivation? Was it just something to do while writing American Idiot? Anyway, who knows. We could talk about that for hours. To the song itself: For some reason, I get the feeling it's about some kind of robot man who is perceived as evil but deep down inside knows how to love someone undyingly. I guess that's just how all the fucked up ambiances etc. make me feel about it. They're great, and they will always be GD. Billie Joe= deus.

About having faith in someone no matter what. Someone you can always count on... damn, I wish someone sang this to me.

i really like this song. i think it's about how he cares about someone so much and that he doesn't want to hear about anything else besides that "special person".
