Okay, since no one is bothering with trying to say what the fuck the song is about, I will. I THINK, from what I have read, that the song is a musical interpretation of The Count of Monte Cristo. We all know the song is great, so stop saying it and offer your opinion of what the song MEANS.

Okay. there are three aspects to look at here. band, song, and video Band: Nightwish is a good band, they have some amazing songs. the only problem is the singerm because though she has a trained voice, it belongs with a song that is all about the voice. the way this song was displayed by nightwish, it couldn't have been better. the girls voice was soft and loud when it needed to be, and it is the best nightwish song ever. the song means nothing. It is about a guy that goes around and does dumb stuff, like rob people and have sex with married people. then he is caught, but can't get out of it because all his excuses lead to other crimes. then it is unclear, but it doesnt matter because the song is so good. video: go to youtube. its a guy who is fighting other guys and people trying to capture him. then he fights with more guys, and theres about 5 seconds of a person sitting on a big rock. then it ends with a bunch of people breathing fire and a house blowing up. In my opinion, songs aren't meant to be understood, they are meant to be listened to and enjoyed. poems are meant to be understood.

Umm, this is like one of the greatest songs I've ever heard. Nightwish did a seriously fantastic job of it, I love it. This is one of the few songs I'm willing to sing in front of people. That says something.

this song is self explanitory. a story of someone having an affair which he'd rather be locked up with then let the one he loves know about it. He wants to be with her but cant since he was blamed for a robbery he didnt do.

I think that he (unmarried) is having an affair with his friends wife, his friend finds out and frames him, he takes the blame to protect his friends wife (so she wouldn't be found guilty of adultery) and it's about them wishing and praying that they'll meet again

...I agree. They made it very obvious that it's about a man who slept with his best friend's wife. He was framed for robbery but didn't want to give his alibi because the night in question he was with his friend's wife and didn't want it to be known. So...because he can't give his alibi, he is found guilty. After that, the song is about his friend's wife waiting for the day that he will return. Despite what happened, she still wants to be with him. I really shouldn't need to say this...but the only difference between poetry and song is that songs is music. The music isn't all there is to a song, music is just noises synchronized together in a calculated beat and pitch. Music alone has no words. The common term "Song" is simply referring to poetry sang over music. Also...words have meaning, regardless of whether or not this meaning teaches a lesson. Therefor all songs with lyrics have meaning. Oh...and also...if a band didn't intend for a song to have some sort of meaning, don't you think the song would simply be instrumental? If they didn't want meaning, there wouldn't be lyrics.
