Yeah, that last part of the song is crazy. Very well done. Odd way to start the CD, but its all good. This CD is very different and took me the second time to really like it. Now I love it. WITH TEETH is such a great album that differs so much compared to the others. The last half of the CD is killer.

It\'s hard for me to interpret the meaning too. At first I thought he\'s expressing anger for someone who he doesn\'t like, but gets more recognition/attention than him. Then I noticed a few allusions. One to \"Hurt\", with the line... \"I\'ve become a million miles away\" which might be hinting at the fact that he\'s over his addiction. But really I\'m not sure on that. It could very well mean something entirely different because the lines before are describing a neglected person. The other allusion I noticed was to Elvis\'s song \"Heartbreak Hotel\" with the line... \"Sometimes I get so lonely I could...(die)\" Which lead me to believe the person that the one-line chorus is about is someone he used to be with. Regardless, it\'s a great opening to the album, and it took a few listens before I really started liking it. I love how it really picks up at the 3:00 mark or so. Gets louder etc.

So catchy. This album reminds me of the stuff Radiohead has been doing the last few years. I would equate this album with Amnesiac or Hail to the Thief. And since I know none of you can really do without my opinion, I'd like to say that this album is quite a bit better than I thought it would be after "The Hand That Feeds." However, my initial expectations were never exceeded, it's only that I thought THTF was such a piece of crap and my expectations declined dramatically. I'll say this though (and this is the important part), the album is interesting. When I began listening to this album from MySpace.com, I nearly retracted every thing I said about this album sucking. "All the Love in the World" held my accute attention from opening until finish. Unfortunately, the song ended and I sat with waining expectation throughout the rest of the album. No, perhaps that's an overstatement, but I certainly don't think this is NIN's best. It's interesting though. What else could I ask for? There are times (plenty of times) when this album holds my attention, just because of it's "weirdness." Sometimes there are parts where I think Trent got the rhythm section from my $29.99 synthesizers "Ad-Lib" button. I read an interesting article written by journalist who watched Trent "make a song in a day" or whatever and I thought it was a pretty good read. If you read it, I think you'll understand why this album sounds like it does. Like...every note could be represented with MIDI and a few cool patches.

expand on this- I have some thoughts on this song but nothing feels all that concrete to me yet: The first verse seems to fit with a reference to god watching everything and knowing how it all is supposed to work out, but he's saying that all the faces still seem to smear together even in God's eyes as he feels alone in the crowd. The second verse expands on this expressing how he feels distanced from the world and can't change anything as he can't clearly express himself so others can understand. The third vers seems to talk about how everthing seems to be clearer and better with faith/religion, but he still feels so alone and distant from everyone. Why does God get all the love in he world?

EDIT: Maybe this song is totally dedicated to God. God and Faith are supposed to make life better and more clear. And now Faith is really all Trent has left, but he'd really like to know why God gets all the love in the world. It's quite possible that God and Faith are failing him, and in return he'd just really like to know why everyone looks up to him so much, when he does absolutely nothing to help anyone. Everyone worships God, but God's not helping Trent when he needs help the most. He then in turn asks "why do you get all the love in the world?" When he says "all the jagged edges disappear" etc etc. he's not comparing his life to when he thinks about God, he's comparing what Faith is supposed to be like, in the eyes of mortal man, but then leading it on that it isn't working out for him. Then it leads to the chorus.

This is obviously a song about things going from wrong to right. It's about being neglected. No one listens to him, so the words he speaks in his music, don't sound as good to him when he hears them in his songs, than when he thinks them up. It's a song that clearly states "nobody knows how hurt I really am...nobody really gets it. what i'm saying nobody listens to, and nobody cares. it only matters to me in my mind. but when you're (she) near, my life gets better. but why do you get all the love in the world?" He's giving her love...but maybe she's not giving it back? Maybe this song is totally dedicated to God. God and Faith are supposed to make life better. And now Faith is really all Trent has left, but he'd really like to know why God gets all the love in the world.

Because WT follows some sorta "political" theme, it could be about people getting love they should really get, ie. Bush.

id say the meaning isn't that difficult. i mean he says the same thing like 70 times. Sick fuckin song. when the piano and drums come in at the 3/4 mark. Can't get enough of that.
