	i think the darkness is metaphoric, not literally referring to vampires or satan. from the begining of the song he starts talkin about his lost love... "In the name of desperation I call your name" so i guess he must be lookin for her. but he also talks about something he did wrong, and he's regretting it..."A lamentation I sigh Again and again" i think he lost his love to death...thats why he says "You are in a forest unknown The secret orchard" and "Another soul within the divine herd". the forest is unknown to him because the living dont know how it's like to be dead. dunno...thats just a guess on my part. cud be wrong

	Lullaby of the crescent moon took you Mesmerized, its kaleidoscopic face Granted you a hollow stare Another soul within the divine herd Well, these lines are about losing someone to the death arent they,,,, when i look at the lyrics you can certainly see things relating to satan (shit on him, im a christian), but some lines are also about the one that he loses... I think..... I guess... Im not that good at interpreting songs. All I know Opeth is great,,,, this one is great, but there's still one better: to bid you farewell... sighs

	The song is not about vampries, I'm pretty sure of that. The main theme is lonliness. The song isn't that hard to interpret really, it's just segments talking about different feelings of lonliness and sorrow the speaker is having.

	hahaha i really doubt that mikael would write a song about a vampire. but i see how you got to that conclusion. i dont really know what this song is about, its a pretty diffucult lyric. but i think its about a guy wich is a far distance away from his lover and dont know where she is and he is looking for her. but even if they wont get together again they will be together after death because there love is immortal. and this song is just one day in the life of the I person. thats what i think

It is a cold, dark place, and they speak only through thoughts. He becomes one of the devils many slaves and he rests in they fields of eternity, his soul in immortality. 	I'm not sure if this is about Satan at all. I could be wrong, but I've always thought it had something to do with dracula. All the references to darkness are about him in the darkness because he literally dwells in darkness. "I wear a naked soul A blank face in the streaming water" he has a blank face in the water because vampires have no reflection. "The moonlight caresses a lonely hill With the calmness of a whisper" Dracula's castle was on a hill, he lived there alone. "Together we gazed, awaited Hours brought thirst and the rising sun" vampires must quench their thirst for blood before the sun rises. "Sunbirds leave their dark recesses Shadows glid the archways" simply things that happen when the sun rises. "I have kept it The amaranth symbol Hiddin inside the golden shrine Until we rejoice in the meadow Of the end When we both walk the shadows It will set ablaze and vanish Black rose immortal" the amaranth is a flower, held in some ancienct cultures as a symbol of immortality. all the references to immortality would make sense of dracula or a vampire too, since they are immortal. "It is getting dark again Dusk shuffle across the fields The evening trees moan as if they knew At night I always dream of you" I dont know too much about dracula, but he is obviously singing about a lost love throught the song, a vampiress I think. In bram stoker's original, there was a female that he turned into a vampire, but she was killed. Any thoughts on this? I could be wrong, so post your thoughts.
