| It sounds like a person who is tired of life, and they have left their home so that they can go and kill themselves and die alone. | |

| and i also agree with malevolent. most ppl would no that true christians think that after you commit suicide you are sent to hell but another one is that after you are sent to hell you are only there until your true time is up then you go to heaven. | |

| doenst make sense, smiply because the words dont say that, you just assume that because you need a connection between harlequin forest and the grandconjuration, wich there isnt. just look at the words, they dont say what you are saying. i dont want to sound arrogant or whatever but i think my interpretation above is right, not because im so great at interpretating songs but simply because that's what the words say | |

| I think if it was only about 'suicide', the guy would have been more explicit. Its deliberately ambiguous. The song title itself, 'Hours of wealth' implies something positive; so even if its about suicide, it sure as hell got nothing to do with the devil; really dunno wat u guys are on about. My two cents: the song's bout escape, figuratively speaking. Running away from the things that cause him pain; 'fever' is disease caused by external influence. I like to think that its escape from the norm; people and their habits. He hides behind windows; tries to 'recognize' people instead of merely speaking to them.; he doesn't want to be a drone anymore. Also, he is in darkness, because people have become so addicted to habits that when they finally find themselves alone, they realize how empty they actually are. But he will find purpose again. He will 'rediscover' himself, and arise once more. I mean come on. Suicide? Devils? Satan even? So pessimistic. Song has a real jazzy feel as well, arguably, to help supplement that feeling of escape. | |

| I also think it's about depression and/or suicide. If you wish, maybe can be related to a simbolic death, like the XIII card of the Tarot, but it's about doing something extreme: Leaving home, following Satan (although I don't found Satan among the lyrics), committing suicide, or something alike. "never heard me saying good bye never shall i speak to anyone again" That's not happy, and note hopeful, it's an important choice that changes your life... But it can't be really evil or bad either, because it's called "Hours of Wealth" and as Animal said, it's producing as much as you can. | |

| i think you people are looking the wrong way at the words. and as i said in the ghost of perdition topic this is not a concept album , read what i said there. you all see this song as a very negative one , but its actually a very positive song. its about getting out of an depression. its like a V shape. its pretty hard to describe in english but ill try. you should see depression as a V shape. a person slowly goes down the V meaning he feels worse and worse. than he hits rock bottom, the bottom of the V. after that he goes op de V again, meaning he feels better and better. this song is about that point after rock bottom the first point of getting out of the depression. i hope you understand what i mean. just look at the title hours of wealth, by that alone you can see that this is supossed to be a positive song | |

| This song is intricately tied to the storyline. In Atonement he decides to not follow Satan anymore, but in Reverie/Harlequin Forest he is hounded by Satan through he forest, which finally burns down. In Hours of Wealth he decides to return to the devils fold, which leads up to The Grand Conjuration. "once i am sure of my task i will arise again" He is sure of his quest to follow the devil once more, after repenting in Atonement. | |

| Agreed 100% with likescarrots. I never even remotely linked this song to the thoughts of suicide.. that's just looking WAY too deep into the lyrics. I like this song's message, and there are quite a few people out there who have drifted off somewhere alone for a while to "renew" themselves, find their purpose and come back fired-up. Ultimately I think this song is about burning-out, finding some sort of solace, having an epiphany, and coming to the realization that he has to step out of his comfort zone and make some serious adjustments to his life to bring some light back into it. Hours of Wealth = Serious Productive/Constructive alone time to help better your life, no more beating around the bush, and kicking old bad habits. I honestly can't see how you could derive religion from a song like this. I used to be religious once, until I did my homework and found out it was nothing but mythical-storytelling bullshit. Take care now. | |
