| My longtime friend/teacher/mentor recently died, and this some TOTALLY makes sense with how I feel about her. I still get choked up when I hear it... | |

| To me, this song always seemed like it bore some sort of significance to the anime series "Neo Genesis Evangelion" and not just because of the song's title. "You know I've started to grow since you've been away Lately, it's scarier not knowing what's become of you Are you proud of me now, I can't tell I'm not as fearless as you" This could be interpereted as Shinji's relationship with his father, who abandoned him at a train station when he was young and views him as being weak/cowardly "I used to think you were crazy When you were hooked to the screen" EVA pilots and no one understanding them, being viewed as mysterious "Take this gift from me Hold it deep in mind Forever and never let this go" The soul of Shinji's mother is inside the eva, and that is why he has such a high syncronization rate with unit-01 "Now... now there's nothing left but time Know that I'm following you Eva's always on my mind And it makes me wonder... What happened to you?" In the first few episodes, when Shinji was entering NERV, he was often afraid/mystified by the whole place. Many things were new, and he was struggling with the fear of an apocalypse and this often brought him to think about his mother and to wish she was there with him to help him through being a pilot. | |
