That is making reference to the Christian belief that Christ will one day return and claim his followers in what is known as "The Rapture." Whether or not that's what the subject is believing in isn't exactly clear. The song has religious overtones, but of course Vedder is not a religious man, and to our knowledge, never has been. | |

| wow im curious about this one. Its funny: Believe you me, is like a direct translation of how you would say "Do you believe me?" in my language, Dutch. I guess "Believe you me" means the same but in old fashioned English or something. It proves once again to me that English and Dutch are much more alike than everyone thinks. Anyways, I will search for this song when I get a chance. | |
