who cares..i love pearl jam..but this song just sounds like shit.. what are lyris if it just sounds stupid? ..people just sit around going..this is about heroin.. that's so crazy man.. i must like it now.. i've said it once and i'lll say it again.. music is great, i like what i think sounds cool.. if the lyrics are something that i can connect with in some way then that's cool.. but i don't praise music for straight up lyrics because they're mysterious and hard to decode lol.. just listen to what sounds good and stop worrying about the meanings all the time.. some people get too serious with it.. i like to see what people think the songs are about.. i judge music more by sound of it than lyrics.. the sound of a song making you feel a certain way is what it's all about.. i used to be all crazy and into lyrics.. then i started listening to more and more Joe Satriani and Classical music without lyrics and realized why lyrics aren't as important as music itself...anywho, just rambling on now

heroin maybe, "see this needle, see my hand" then he talks about laying down your crooked arm as a ritual, as if he were speaking of an addiction, but i can see how maybe it could be vinyl too...

Umm...WHAT?!?! PJamfan90, did you say they made a VIDEO?!?! I only thought they made videos of Jeremy, Alive, Even Flow, Oceans, Do The Evolution, and I Am Mine. If this isn't a joke, can you please tell us where we can find the Spin The Black Circle video?

oh, its definitely about vinyl. but it was also definitely made to sound like he was talking about heroin, and he did such a good job making the lyrics sound that way that they won a grammy. if you doubt that it is about records, just look at the all the singles off of vitalogy (if you dont know what they look like, go here http://www.sonymusic.com/artists/PearlJam/chords/framex.html and click on singles). theyre all pictures of records. so anyway, its a pretty basic song: he loves records so much that its like hes addicted to them. and, hey, interesting fact, all of pearl jams albums come out a week earlier on vinyl than on cd.

I never read the lyrics to the song before, but after reading lyrics and reading what Skaman2 said, I believe the song is about vinyl albums. "Pull it out the paper sleeve" It truly is a good feeling to listen to old vinyl especially if its a band that you can rock out to. Peace

eddie himself dedicated the song to the record stores of newyork in 2003 - so the song is about music being his escape, not heroine
