"Glorified G"
by Pearl Jam from the album "Vs."
Tabbed by Dave Miller (dwm3@po.cwru.edu)

The verse part has many variations in speed. The verse
that I have is just a basic outline of notes. I believe the
rest stems from it.

A very well crafted satire on red neck and gun culture.

It was Dave Abrusezze's gun. He brought a gun to rehearsal and Eddie was disgusted. Dave tried to explain that it was normal b/c Dave was from Texas and it's entirely legal to carry a gun around. Eddie obviously still didn't like it.

this song was said to be about the ex drummer and when he bought a gun, there was a lot of conspiracy about dave leaving the band, but it think the main one was that he bought a gun to protect his family and eddie and the rest of the band were not happy bout it! (not suprizing!!)

i heard it was a case of the drummer went into a practice and said "Hey, i got a gun. In Fact, I got two". The rest said "guns, like kill people man" and in reply he said "it's ok man, cos i love god". a tribute to ed ved's genius that he came up with the start of a song from that :-) . True or not, it's a cool wee anecdote

basically to me what this song means is they way people like the NRA Glorifie and justify gun use with the words God in it "got a gun, fact i got two, thats ok cause i love God" They feel so manly and theyre just Manly gun loving god bless american ignorant Christians, NRA showed up at Columbine right after the Massacre took place to promote God and gun love Glorified G

I know this isnt what the song is about. But I am an armed response cop. We always go out with 2 guns, A carbine and a pistol. So i sometimes chuckle to myself that this could be in some way about POLICE BRUTALITY. ''thats ok man caus I love God'' (In god we trust) I am british so I am sure its probably about American gun law but it still makes me laugh.
