| Anyone else get completely hypnotized when listening to this song? Being a guy, a straight one, I feel comlpetely sexually secure about my identity, if say that Eddie vedder seduces me..... ;) just kidding, I love this song, it shows that even when Pearl Jam were in their pissed off grunge phase, that there was something more to them..... | |

| is this not the most beautiful song ever made? turn it up LOUD when your listening, it just has such a profound effect on you. i love the way the song compares to forces of love with the beauty of the ocean. "And we're all allowed To dream of the next Oh, ohh the next, time we touch..." ...sends a shiver down my spine, every time. | |

| Any type of water in the lyrics symbolizes the love between Eddie and his lover. It's any time Eddie mentions water in this song, whether it be waves, currents, or the oceans. The currents will shift - our love will shift and become true again You don't have to stray the oceans away - you don't have to push our love away Waves roll in my thoughts - I think about our love all the time The sea will rise - our love will rise and become what it was when we were happy Stand by the shore - give the love between them a chance | |

| To me, this sounds like he's going away (most likely to war), hoping to return, but knowing he probably won't. He's telling his wife (not girlfriend, because he refers to a ring) to "stand by the shore" to literally be closer to him, but also because the ocean currents carry his love. | |

| Sighguy, I'm almost sure of it. I didn't hear it anywhere though, I just thought about the lyrics myself and what Eddie wrote them about. | |
