Pearl Jam - Evacuation
from Binaural
Tabbed by: Cory Schuster (cjs1010@psu.edu)
This is one of my favorite tracks off Pearl Jam's Binaural.
This is also my first attempt at tabbing a song for the archive,
so I apologize for any mistakes.
As for the rhytm: it's pretty easy to pick up, just listen to
the song.
One final note: The one thing I'm not positive on is the
Interlude part. It sounds pretty good to me when I play
with the cd, but it might be slightly off. Any
corrections would be greatly appreciated.

| yea maybe they were being sarcastic, but to me it makes a lot of sense, if you look at it from a sperms point of view... quite intersting, would of still been a great song left ejaculation.. but def a little more universal and relatable now | |

| I see it now. The siren that screams for wanton attention is a Siren, one of those females who lured men in to their death and had sex with them till they died. "take heed" is just clever wordplay for "give head." the lines of taking leave and planting seeds, clever. "best put aside your evil lets crawl into your face" is a reference to facial bukkake. There was a solemn man watched his twilight dissapear" is like him saying goodbye to his precious sperm which people often refer to as the twinkling in your eye, which means conception or the idea of birth. th falling eagle is his erection going away, and he wasted his sperm without causing a pregnancy. SO now that I think about it, i feel quite silly for telling you to listen to frankie goes to hollywood, who could never come up with a metaphor this powerful. Sorry. I was wrong. | |

| Also, it's apt to note here that "Pearl Jam" is a slang experssion for jism, or cum, or sperm. splooge. Oh, and thanks for implanting me with the mental image of my fathers penis ejaculating. | |

| There's like, two lines in the whole song that can be even remotely connected to "ejaculation". I'd like to read the interview, and who was being interviewed. The band is know for being sarcastic. Just think about the lyrics a bit. The sirens scream wanton attention. --Something is going to happen Time to take heed and change direction. Time to take stock and make omissions. --prepare for the worst, vut your loses Evacuation. Evacuation. --Getting the hell out of the situation that went bad. Time to take leave all formal functions. Time to plant seeds of a reconstruction. No time this time to feign reluctance. --Starting over It's like your waiting for a diamond shore to wash your way. --You have to make stuff happen, and a lot of times its not always good. Bets put aside you're evil. Lets crawl into your face. --I don't quite understand this line, A vision vague or not raising a frightful wake you up. --The situation is not always clear, and it can mess with you, scare you a bit. There was a solemn man. Watched his twilight disappear. In the sand. --Another bad situation Altered by a falling eagle. A warning sign. Sign. --Sees the warning that this might go bad. He sensed that worry could be strength with a plan he said, "Time for evacuation." --The fact that he was worry about how this would turn out is actually good, because he now can get out of the situation. | |

| I heard in an interesting interview that this song was orginally supposed to be called ejaculation...and when i look at some of the lines i can see why "Time to plant seeds of a reconstruction" etc... has anyone else heard anything about this? I heard they changed it becasue they werent sure how the gen. pub. would accept it... I myself believe it would have been bettter left, "ejaculation"...hope i was able to offfer a little insight, peace. | |

| i agree that sad and fatal should have been on binarual and are maybe the two best pearl jam songs (what the hell were they thinking leaving it off) but evacuation is still a good song. I burned the perfect binaural album the way it should be, replace "breakerfall" with "sad" put "hitchhiker" after evacuation (optional) and replace "sleight of hand" with fatal. I strongly reccomend it | |

| ok after reading some of this stuff im not to sure about what to write but im a really big chili pepper fan and ecerything in my life resolves around them (hey thats how i found out about pearl jam!) and to mei see the signs that you see but another message put into about anyting can put you into pressure of little thing bu you feel like its a war. i look into this song and i see myself coming out and thinking about phoning everyone ive ever said anything to put them under the weather about and thats what lives in rhcp. when you look at the sketches on the album where the lyrics to this song isyou can also see that message more cleare to that point too in a roundabout way. thank you for listing and please no mo qur over this | |

| i rather listen to this song about ejaculation from a sperms point of view, but thanks for the advice kurdt, im sorry you have to be sooo immature about this subject, ejactulation can be a very spiritual and enlightening subject, not one to be looked down apon as "shallow and stupid" it is essential for human life and weahter you like it or not.. your very life can be rooted back to your dads ejaculating penis, kurdttbo.... i think when this song is looked at from the pov of a sperm facing ejaculation... it is very spirtual, meaningful, and downright beautiful, my friend... hopefully you can open your mind and see this someday | |

| Former Soundgarden drummer Matt Cameron, who joined Pearl Jam for its 1998 U.S. tour and has been a part of the band ever since, is also a dominant factor on "Binaural." Cameron wrote the music for the edgy "Evacuation" and is said to have come up with certain guitar parts that Gossard and guitarist Mike McCready spent hours figuring out. Vedder: Matt wrote it, and there's a lot of momentum in it. I couldn't sit down and write to it, so that was when I'd take it in the car and just go for drives — the open road thing. So it felt like I was evacuating. The theory behind the song, which I've probably done four times already, is getting out of a situation. "Rearviewmirror" might be the same song. But it's time to make a change — it's a song about change. | |
