PEARL JAM - I AM MINE

Tabbed By:kwistufa
intro

G------------------------------------------------
D------------------------------------------------
A---5---------5----------------------------------
E-------------------5--5--5--5--5--5-------------

this is the main type intro, just hanging D's
then trudging A's into the verse
verse

G------------------------------------------------
D------------------------------------------------
A-----5-0------8-0-----7-----0------3-------0---- x 3
E------------------------------------------------

then

G------------------------------------------------
D------------------------------------------------
A-----3----------5-------------------------------
E----------3-------------------------------------

which is played once the 1st time the (x3)above
completes its cycle then twice on the 2nd time
round building to the chorus

chorus

G------------------------------------------------
D------------------------------------------------
A-------------------5------5---5-----------------
E----3------5------------------------------------

with all the usual Jeff runs connecting it.
But this'll do for you plodders. Does this 3 times
then goes to an outro/bridgey thing from the chorus

G------------------------------------------------
D------------------------------------------------
A----3-----3----3----3-----5----5----5-----5-----
E------------------------------------------------

G------------------------------------------------
D------------------------------------------------
A---5---5---5---5--------------------------------
E---------------------5---5----------------------

back to verse...
thats basically it! At the end of the second
chorus in the outro thingy they do it a lil
different, not much,

G------------------------------------------------
D------------------------------------------------
A------------5---5----3---3---3---3---5---5---5--
E---3----5---------------------------------------

G------------------------------------------------
D------------------------------------------------
A--3----5--5--5--3----5--5--5--3----5--5--5--5--5
E------------------------------------------------

and so on back to the last chorus where you can use
your imagination a lttle but sticking to the main
pattern. I take no responsibility for any inaccuracies
or mistakes, its just how I worked it out.
BTW, this is my 1st "TAB", i only did it cause i couldnt find it here at MxTabs already!!

I don't see any chiasmi, here unless you mean "the sorrow grows bigger when the sorrow's denied" but thats only one line. and the only anthimeria is "faithing", and it's barely anthimeria. its more like ghetto talk. Your going to fail poetry class.

ok i don't see how you can possibly think this song is about 9/11. The song is just about living your life for yourself and not worrying about what other people say, think or do. It's about individuality and not selling out. That's what pearl jam is all about and what makes them such an amazing band.

ok , you guys are on the right track but not all the way to home base. lets take it one step at a time the first verse basically deals with greedy capitalists - contorting people and their properties to their own wants - 'the north is to south, as the clock is to time' .. north and south refer to the 'West' and the 'Third World' respectively, and the analogy to clock is to time, is the reference that the clock in this day in age has a controlling relationship to time, where there really should be nothing but a complimentary relationship. the second verse is quite strong as it related to the numerous innocent lives lost in numerous different situations - but 'we' in the 'north' had nothing to fear since we believed we were 'safe.' the verse about the ocean and the moon, are basically how the whole world is getting full of sorrow and pain, and that even the full moon that 'stands alone' is looking for friends when it's time comes (at high tide). this basically has implications of the isolation and loneliness we all realise our tedious clockwork lives eventually lead to. The innocents broken with times We're all different behind the eyes We may need to hide this verse following the chorus, may or may not depict that 9-11 events - as it brings to light how 'we all may need to hide' .... and the fact that we're not 'safe' anymore either, as the 'differnce' in people has become so clearly marked out now. all in all, its a brilliant mockery of the system we are all forced to follow - and its lack of individual respect and concern for 'thy neighbour'... thats my big load of 2 cents....

I think it definitely is about individuality and making the most of life, although they aren't really linked in any obvious way I can think of.

yes but thats kind of typically vague, isn't it. Personal safety? couldnt that mean anything. Isnt that what religion is all about? feeling safe about yourself after you die.

I'm so glad there's finally some new Pearl Jam! The music doesn't sound like Pearl Jam at all, but I love it. I heard it in the car and I knew it was Pearl Jam because of Eddie's smooth voice :] This song is definately one of my favs. ~~~~~ I didn't really agree with Wats-up at first. However, after I listened to the song and actually read through the lyrics it makes some sense. It could have something to do with 9/11. "The innocent / Broken with time" This is what really hit me, and what really made me think about the 9/11 ties and made totally agree with everything Wats-up had to say. I also think that it may have some individuality meaning as well. Like driftin said 'nothing is certain in life except birth and death, it's what you choose to do that makes you who you are...'

On the single, the B-sides (Down, Bushleaguer, Undone) were all political songs, so I was thinking this one would also have a political meaning. I hope not though, because I hate it when bands sing about politics.

Why has everything always got something to do with 9/11. The taboo of death has always been with humanity. Let the sentiment of resignation flow over you, you will die so use your time wisely
