INtro/verses:
G[----------------------------]
D[*-------------------------*]
A[*-------------------------*]
E[---0-57--0-5--0-5-0-0----]
Just before Eddie goes "yeah" play this:
G[--------------------]
D[-------------------*]
A[-5-3--------------*]
E[------6-5-3-0-3-5-]
Then go back to verse 3X, then the thing above again.
Here's the chorus:
G[-------------3-----------3-------------------------5--------5----------*]
D[-----------------------------------------0----0------------------------*]
A[-5----5-1-----1-0-1-1----1-1-1-1-3/---------3----3-0-3----3-3-3-3-3-0-*]
E[----0---------------------------------------0--------------------------*]
You can easily figure out where they go. The other part is quite simple.
G[--------------------------------]
D[-------------------------------*]
A[-3-3-3-3-3-4-5-5-5-5-5-5-0-*]
E[---------------------------------]

A few thoughts...Some of the interps make sense...about the person being homeless...there's the popular saying that a homeless person's mind is worry free while a rich mans is cluttered...butterflies are gentle and float easily...therefore for the homeless man, "Thoughts arrive like butterflies"...if it helps...this song was called "The King" before Ten was released

I like how eddie vedder had created this song from real life experience. turniin everyday occurences or events and turning them into something is a clear sign of an artist. BUT JESUS CHRIST...how could some of u be so god damn homo phobic. And how in hell could u say Eddie sux and LP rules. Linkin Park is one of those pussy new age alternative bands that ruins the very defintion of great alternative music-their music makes me sick. I wont even comment on the Creed comment...cuz Creeds still pretty okay.

TBone732, i think the lyric are talking about how when people are homeless they don't always have the mental ability to cope with it, and so thoughts enter his head (they come out of nowhere and sort of float around - like butterflies) but he can't deal with them and doesn't understand them and so he "chases them" out of his head...there is an "even flow" of thoughts in and out of his head...thoughts enter his mind, and leave unchanged because of his inablity to cope. that is just my view...
