| There is three parts to this song. The first part is about a drug addict pondering life as he takes an injection. Part two is a man who fells he is better then anyone so he feels quite superior. The line, the aged come makes me think of a girl coming of age. I am not sure if he is committing suicide with the knife or killing someone else. Maybe the knife is only figurative as he is putting someone down and making them feel bad. Part three is pretty disturbing as an angel comes down from heaven because she feels she is nothing to god, and ends up being raped. (As he sinks himself deep) | |

| I agree with most of what Benplace said, however I am confident that in the second stanza he is referring to a murderer. He feels "superior" so he feels justified in taking lives. (Also, why would someone who feels superior kill himself?) I would guess that the line, "the aged come" means that he feels it is time for these people to die. Murder also fits with the theme of this song- the three worst kind of addictive, evil passions (drug addiction, murder, rape). Lastly, I don't believe the third stanza refers to a literal "angel" from heaven who comes down to earth because God ("the man above her") sees her as nothing, but rather, I think it is simply a metaphor. I'm pretty sure that "the man above her" refers to the man raping her. She's just a young virgin, and virginity is symbolized by purity and angelic qualities (besides, angels can't have sex). This girl is visiting a figurative hell (being raped of her virginity, the worst thing to happen to a woman in my book). The line "On the edge of a Christmas clean love" confuses me though, I'm not sure what that means... it may possibly be saying that she was "on the edge of" losing her virginity to someone she loved... "clean love"... but I really don't know, that's just the closest I can guess. If anyone else has any other idea on what that means, I'd like to know. ^_^ | |
