They play the instrumental from this song in other songs at concerts (RVM in Columbus and Immortality in Katowice)

This song always makes me cry...especially the live version when he starts saying "we belong together" over and over. Eddie Vedder is just so talented. All of Pearl Jam is.

That is one of the saddest songs i've ever heard.But it reminds me of someone i wish i could forget.

i think it's about how Eddie Vedder and the band went on a 'Road Trip' like journey across America and when they got to Texas they met the devil and the devil winked at them

Dennis Rodman is on the answering machine in the middle of this song when it says "Yo bro. Tell us what's happenin'. Um, I'm on the west, west side of, on the west coast. Give me a jingle, uh, when you get in from where the fuck you're at." Rodman is a huge Pearl Jam fan.

Makes me cry everytime i hear it, especially the unplugged version, its one of those songs that when you hear it connects itself forever with a memory or experience

i just got the fvt 2001 cd and aaron lewis does a cover of black. he's no eddie, but it is an awesome tribute to a great song.
