| I seem to remember some discussion on here about what he meant by "dropsy". Just thought I'd let you know dropsy is a disease common among goldfish. And no, just because he's using an extended metaphor doesn't mean he was "on shrooms". It's just creative writing. | |

| The song is definetly about a fish or amphibian or something but it must be a metaphor for something else. I can't figure out what. Anyway its a great song. I love it. | |

| ..WTF? This shit is fucking hilarious, man. I mean, a song about a goldfish? Sounds like this guy has really gone off the deep end, or needs to get laid. Don't get me wrong, Pinback is awesome, and I bought their CD the day I heard this song, but still. I mean, a song about a fucking goldfish? That's just ludicrous. I tend not to think about the lyrics, because it makes me laugh and ruins the mood. The music is trantalizingly great, though. | |

| the first hundred times you listen to it, you tend to think it's about a goldfish. then one day, you're listening to it, a bit hungover, and think that maybe it's about a drug or alcohol problem. then you listen to it again and realize you're reading too far into it. and then you think it's about a fish again. | |

| ok so i changed my mind a little..it is definately about a gold fish.. but i think he wants to turn it into a crab so it can breathe oxygen and not die... i really think he was on mushrooms when he wrote this song though.. or some sort of hallucinagetic hehe | |
