| It's a love song. A boy meets a girl, falls head over heels in love with a girl but this girl is commited to another. This boy waits and bides his time never losing hope and he finally gets what he's been waiting for. "While you were hanging yourself on someone else's words dying to believe in what you heard" - The girl waiting for something from her current beau, possibly a marriage proposal? "While I pondered on this dangerous but Irresistable pastime" - It's sex, simple as that I love this song because it relates alot to what i'm going through at this moment in time. | |

| I agree i think the latter Pink Floyd driven by David Gilmour kicks Roger Water's Pink Floyd's ass - with a few exceptions of cause. This is one of the best Pink Floyd songs ever, the lyrics are beautiful and literally send shivers down my spine... | |

| this song to me has so many meanings, i love it. i listen to it when i'm mad and it calms me down so much. it also reminds me of when i got in to a fight with one of my best friends and we weren't talking for a while. i really needed her, and the words really related to how i felt, "where were you when i was burned and broken..." and even though it might not be what it's about, it just reminds me of that. | |

| To me this song seems like it's talking about, say a girl, that is the perfect girl for a guy, and he wonders where she was when his life was shit so that she could have made it all better. | |
