So that's what the last line means? I thought it was a practical joke to offset the seriousness of the rest of the album. It's like waiting for someone to finish explaning something they are passionate about and then pointing out a mistake that makes the whole thing impossible.

I always kind of thought it was about how generally screwed-up things are, and that things are not the way they should be because people are lunatics, thus "and everthing under the sun is in tune, but the sun is eclipsed by the moon" kind of a reference to people thinking the moon is responsible for insanity.

The last two lines, very important. Everything under the Sun is in tune, but the sun is eclipsed by the moon... so what does it matter since the Sun is covered? Just my take.

Fact: Russian cosmonauts listened to this album while out in space.
