As far as i know the whole cd is about water's father (he died in the war) perhaps writtne from roger's point of view. Not sure, I haven't heard the album enough.

eva floyd, it's actually about the kids in Japan (whose flag is the rising sun), and their practicing of kamikaze.

i absolutly love this song, it is one of the best off The Final Cut. I just love that part where it gets like...loud, u can feel like the power in it. Awesome start to the album ,I think it really sets the feel and message for the rest of the album.

I think its about the decline of the country since the war. "if it wasn't for the nips being so good at building ships the yards would still be open on the clyde" I think this refers to the decline in the ship building industry in the uk partly due to the japanese being "so good at building ships" I also think that the kids commiting suicide part is referring to the high suicide rate in teens in japan.
