It's just calm, "marooned" meaning you're stuck in the middle of nowhere, can't get to anybody else. It goes with "The Division Bell" album theme of communication.

I've never had an instrumental that "spoke" to me as much as this one, it's easily one of my favorite songs ever.

I take back what I said, it's much better than Signs of Life. Yes, Any Colour is probably the best instrumental there is (certainly pretty high on the list).
