| I completely realised the meaning of this song when I saw a video of the Wall live show, in which a wall is made throughout the show by adding bricks, and the last brick of the wall is placed at the exact moment roger finishes singing,so it means that from that moment on he is inclosed in his own world away from everybody else | |

| For the love of Mike, people. If you're so freaking literal, you'll never be able to interpret ANYTHING. Sure, this is not suicide in the terms of physically ending your life, but yes, it is suicide. He is retreating behind the wall, into himself, alone, he is, essentially, dying. In many ways, you can call this suicide. Don't be stupid. | |

| To call ones interpretation "stupid" or classify yourself as "true floyd fans" has got to be the biggest oxymoron this side of "the wall". This website is designed not only to express the lyrical intention of the song author but to hear how others may relate it to his/her own journey through life. Because so many are "dead" set on getting it right i will add that this song is about the metaphorical and not the physical act of suicide. As you read the lyrics you cannot help but think it may have been the authors intent to draw a parallel between a catatonic state and suicide. What is incongruous to me is having so many people post how "stupid" it is to concider this song to be about suicide when it has not been conciderd in any post. Maybe by posting "stupid" and "true fan" before any mention of a misinterpretation you are telling us that at some point you were corrected. Be that as it may i do not think it stupid to concider this song about suicide as it does play an important part in the depth of the song. | |

| Its not a suicdide song. Not because i don't think Rogers would write one (all true fans know he did people). But this isn't one of them. Its about how you become so enclosed in ur own little world. behind "ur on little wall" so to speak, and u'll never "see the world again" not suicidal, just a man locking himself out from the world. | |
