| It was only recently that I discovered the Pixies, but to me this song could be interpretted as a reference to liking S&M. The references about being an "ugly lover", "rolling on the floor", and being a "belly dancer" describe sexual things. Also, the fact that the guy describes himself as a "loser" and as "ugly" may makes him seem somewhat masochistic. Thus, "break my body, hold my bones" becomes sexual. Also, the last three lines of the song represent reaching climax. | |

| I'm not sure what the core meaning is, but I don't really care. This song to me is just about giving in to everyone's perceptions of you and not giving a shit about what they think and doing what you want despite their opinion. Break my body almost seems like a challenge to the naysayers if you interpret it this way. | |

| I think the first line is actually "I'm a horny loser." At least that's what it sounds like to me. | |

| i think it has a biblical undertone. Jesus Christ said "this (bread) is my body, break it and eat in remembrance of me" maybe, maybe not what the song is about | |

| Well it comforts me. All of the people mentioned are like "extremists" or similar term could be used since that one got ruined by TV. But they all are going to extremes to find comforts or pleasures. But it's all physical pleasures. If you look at each person mentioned they are trying to find some sort of "nirvana" by using their bodies. I think much of humankind is like that and it's comforting to be reminded others are just as "human" as I. They haven't achieved a nirvana state by any other means more evolved than I. Oh gosh, gimmie a hug my brothers and sisters :) I can't wait til I am free of bones and body. They drag me down, man. | |

| I always thought that the chorus line "Break my body, hold my bones" was a reference to an old practice of shepherds. They would break the bones of a young lamb and then carry it on their shoulders so that the lamb would become used to the shepherds voice and eventually become comfortable around him. Sort of sick, but it's interesting that that would be more like "break my bones, hold my body." | |
