| Umm, an idea about the last section. Man is 5, but the devil is 6, because he's like pure evil or whatever. And if the devil is 6 then god is 7 because he's even worse for allowing all that shit to take place and for creating humans in the first place who destroy the planet. Or it could mean that humans are even further from god than the devil, because we destroy our earth and don't even care. | |

| Um... how is 5 halfway between 6 and 7? 6 1/2 is halfway between 6 and 7. I think the god and devil stuff is supposed to give a sort of apocalyptic overtone to the song. Also, I think the monkey is humankind - we're going to kill ourselves, we're just monkeys - another type of animal on the planet, not something special. | |

| best pixies song ever! I always thought the line "this monkey's gone to heaven" is just using the monkey as a metaphor for man, since we evolved from apes and all. Maybe Frank was making a statement that although man has evolved physically, the nature of man hasn't, case in point man's disregard for nature with the "ten million pounds of sludge from New York and New Jersey". I always thought the last verse refers to the monkey's (or man's, whatever u want to call him) ascension to heaven. from 5 to 6 to 7(we all go to heaven). | |

| an appearance of god on this CD??? Did they acknoledge God as a collaberator on this album? If not there could be some big trouble. God knows some influential people and The Pixies could wind up in a little bit of a mess. | |
