| Well I have thought about this song again after the Tsunami in South-East-Asia. The title is somehow cynic when you look at it now. But In general i think a wave is always something ambivalent. On the one hand there is this powerful devasting force (mutilation) and on the other hand there is this romantic feeling of the ocean: the salt, water, bathing, fun, summer, ect. ...I love it. | |

| the first couple lines of this song make me think its a very mature way to go, nothing selfish or anything like that. i myself picture it as a release from this bipolar society we live in,,, almost seems like hes just enjoying his escape by himself and lets things flow as they are.then he thinks he'll take it a bit farther to sink in the trenches or mariana to something...more | |

| I think this is a very uplifting song actually. First, we can't assume he drove his car into the ocean on purpose... In fact, "ceased to resist, giving my goodbye" I think just intends the individual to get a feeling of "Peace". I mean, talk about a beautiful way to go, eh? (sorry) But really, with the music's strong influence I get a feeling of peace and relaxation like he was singing about going on a carribean cruise. "you'll think I'm dead, but I sail away..." The song seems now to be in the present. A brilliant perspective and would be very comforting to one mourning death of a loved one. Dead or sailing away? How would you prefer to envision a soul just passed? Wave of mutilation may be Black's take on what we call "angels or guardians" Perhaps each wave that transports the now freed spirit, is catagorized by name. Maybe there is a Wave of Suffocation too? Oh, oh, how about The Wave of Decapitation? I suppose they have to be concerned with the crossing over and make it as smooth as possible as not to leave any "ghosts" behind. If they get on the wave named after the way of death, it may help in how the soul and body finally become detatched? I wonder if Frank's idea of heaven is the ocean? Or maybe he has a fetish for mermaids. | |

| also, "you think im dead but i sail away" i dont think he commits himself at this point, buttt i do beleive he has completly separated himself from this world by makeing everyone accept his leave and forget about his existance. and i mean, if society doesent beleive your there, then you might as well not be after having your kicks. | |

| I agree with this being about self-destruction, but not suicide. "You think I'm dead, but I sail away". It's like, if life has you down and everything sucks, then instead of suicide which is permanent you can just throw away everything that's holding you down and create a new life. | |
