Pizzicato Five are a union of fashion models and satirists from Japan, started in 1984 by Keitaro Takanami and Yasuharu Konishi (b. 3 February 1959, Japan), two college students obsessed with the Monkees. Konishi was born on the day Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and the Big Bopper died in an air crash, and this fact led to an enduring interest in all aspects of rock 'n' roll.
