| I'm not sure about this, but i think this song is about suicide/murder, after something tragic happened to them, but maybe not deciding to commit suicide. "Barely able to keep the lids open" - the person cannot look down below.. (he/she's on the top floor of a building..) "bad memories and good times. Keep me from believing that I can still jump off." - as I said, the person's on the top of a building. "Standing still becomes a chore." - Getting sick of life, because you stand up and walk to places... "Anxious to get the pavement moving." - Jumping off the building... and when people see that person, they move. away. as i said, it may not be suicide-related because of this: "Happiness is not having to lie on the floor dead alone. " I may be wrong, but oh well... | |

| this is an incredible song...i love the sound that they gave it...the slow build up into an explosion of angst...beautiful! anyways, i think this song is about being on the road, being in a band, being famous, etc. ("you grow accustomed to seeing the sun in a different location"), and how it takes a lot out of you and really wears you down ("barely able to keep the lids open"), also the record companies and the "corporate" music world...they try and sink their teeth in and try to ruin a band..that can really get to some people ("they find ways to drag you along and dismantle what you've created") at some point, every band gets so fed up with things that they want to throw in the towell and just call it quits("the easy solution to this, and everything else is to move on"), but ultimately they realize that they are doing what they love and it's all worth it in the end ("at times i might think that i need the rest but who would want to go back there?", "bad memories and good times keep me from believing that i can still jump off") | |

| I think the song is about meeting someone again for the first time, just like the title says. The person he’s meeting again, could be someone he use to date and she moved away. Like when it says, “you grow a custom to seeing the sun in a different location.” I think maybe he still might have feelings for her, “sometimes I think I may need the rest, but who would want to go back there?” maybe it was a bad relationship, and he doesn’t want to go back to having a bad relationship with her. “Bad memories and good times” Even though they had a bad relationship, they still had some good times. “ It’s already hard enough to say I need it!” He’s having a hard time telling her he still likes her. “Keep me from believing that I can still jump off” maybe he was suicidal. Just use your imagination for the rest in this point of view, to me it makes sense, because I am going through it now. That’s probably why I love this song so much, if it’s about what I wrote, I can definitely relate. Me being in his point of view that is. | |
