| ^ same here. i don't think this song needs an explanation... it's simply about loving that one girl who could slap you across the face and make it seem like 'magic'. cheesy, i know. so catchy though. | |

| To me, this song's about a guy who is always rejected, and he can't bring himself to confess his feelings to the girl he likes. Great song to listen to if you're in that boat! | |

| I heard this song on the radio but I didn't now who sung it. But I think it describes a guy's infatuation with a girl perfectly. In that stage when you're in the begininning of a relationship of something, that feeling of complete bliss with your significant other is unmatched. This song is catchy, especially the chorus, and does a great job of illustrating a man's very vivid feelings. | |

| To me this song is about a girl who is most likely a belle-laide. EVERY LITTLE THING SHE DOES IS MAGIC! Come on now -- only a belle laide would have charm like that! He is so smitten with her! The way the song is sung, to me, doesn't match the lyrics. I love the song, though. I especially like how he says "MET" at the WAY END of the song. That gets to me -- pure heartache in the way "met" is sung. | |

| The big hit and the classic, of course, was 'Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic', which borrows the majority of its title from the Beatles and invents it gorgeous vocal melody from nowhere, and it's hardly possible to dislike, especially the way they get to accelerate the tune near the end when Sting goes into the 'every little, every little, every little thing she does is MAGIC MAGIC MA-A-A-GIC' rave-up. | Mrs D.V., I wonder if a guy has ever felt that way about you. The problem is, it's usually the ONE person we're least attracted to! Always seems to be the way. Have you felt this way about a guy before? It always surprises me that a guy as great looking as Sting has a couple songs where he says he's tongue tied and lonely. | |

| I think its about the feelings a guy has for a girl from start to end the fears of starting something "I just lose my nerve As I've done from the start" The feelings he has if he loses her: "Long before my tongue has tripped me Must I always be alone"..at least thats part of what its about, mostly the feeling a guy would go through for someone else. | |

| This was originally an acoustic ballad Sting wrote while The Police were known as Strontium 90 (and included bassist Mike Howlett). You can hear the first recording of this song if you find their rare CD, Police Academy, released in 1997 and produced by Mike Howlett. Sting used a lyric from this, "Do I have to tell the story of a thousand rainy days since we first met? It's a big enough umbrella but it's always me that ends up getting wet," on some other songs he wrote, including The Police's "O My God" from Synchronicity and "Seven Days" from his solo album Ten Summoner's Tales. This was recorded in Montserrat. It appeared on the soundtrack of “The Wedding Singer”. | |

| My favorite part of the song is this verse: I resolved to call her up a thousand times a day And ask her if she'll marry me some old fashioned way But my silent fears have gripped me Long before I reach the phone Long before my tongue has tripped me Must I always be alone Sting is a romantic, nuff said... | |

| Hmm. I have to disagree with this being an image of people are new to each other. To me it's more about someone that's known the object of their affection for a while. The bit about "a thousand rainy days since we first met", I take to mean that they have been through their ups and downs as they've known each other. "It's always me that ends up getting wet" means to me that he just keeps getting pushed out into the "rain", basically meaning that even though he's there for her and they are maybe even friends, he's not the top priority in her life and gets the short end of the stick. | |

| I would have to side most with the first poster. Here we have arguably the most perfect song ever written about becoming absolutely infatuated with a girl. Totally happy, though, it is not. "Every little thing she does is magic" is merely an observation from a far distance, he doesn't totally know her and can't truly connect ("[My silent fears have gripped me"). Ultimately he's left to ask why he "must ... always be alone." Every guy has had these feelings before. The thought of her studying, or working, or brushing her just absolutely kills you and then the inevitable happens: either reality sets in or the breakup occurs. Sting hopes to avoid that here, consciously or not. He doesn't want to make the phone call. It's tragic, and it's true. Imagining the wedding is a lot more fun that actually confessing your feelings and getting rejected. Irregardless, it's what one has to do. At some point, we all "end[...] up getting wet." | |

| Do I have to tell the story Of a thousand rainy days since we first met It's a big enough umbrella But it's always me that ends up getting wet The above verse basically talks about his days of loneliness and rejection by other girls. 'It's always me that ends up getting wet' refers to him being the one always getting rejected. And thus that's why he feels alone...those sad memories are like a thousand rainy days to him. | |
