| That is very true. Steven Wilson has said he based the album around a screenplay him and a friend wrote. Still, that doesn't mean that the only meaning for the song is how is it plays into the story. | |

| I never saw this song as being a denunciation of Christians specifically. I just thought the halo thing was interesting. Just something I learned in school. This song really does seem to be more about people using religion to justify their own actions. Just like earthshine said, violence is one example. I'm still trying to understand this stanza: God is on the cell phone God is on the net God is in the warning God is in the threat. Any ideas anyone? | |

| Just going to throw this out there. In medieval paintings, when the artist wanted to show the importance of a character they would put a halo around their head. It was a way of saying that character was the most important. That could go with the song's message of religious people thinking they are better. | |

| I really like the line "With God in a hole you're a righteous soul" - like people who use "God" to justify their actions - "God in a hole". Then of course the ego complex "I'm gaining in heigh now." Pretty straight forward, though it carries much depth. | |
