In my opinion, it's you being different from everyone else, being looked down upon, and having no one who agrees with what you are doing. You look for help, theres no one there. Thinking of alternatives, all you can come up with is to continue to try. After a while, and much consideration, you start to doubt what you are, and what makes you individual. So all in all, it's about rejection of who you are and no one wanting anything to do with who you are, and what you do.

I think it's about fighting for something you believe in so far as to put your soul into it, but no one sees what your doing or really gives a damn about you or your cause, no matter it's importance. The bass and the raspyness of Beth Gibbons voice really drive the deprivity of wanting to show a point, yet all you recieve is ignorance from other people. A truely haunting song in this day in age when so much goes un-noticed.

After the WTC attacks on 9/11 NPR was using this song as the theme to some of their special coverage of the event. Every time I hear the song now it brings back memories of the dark, uncertain first couple of days after it happened.

This is probably my favorite Portishead song; so beautiful.
