I remember reading on some of the pro-Bush blogs on the internet, somebody on one blog accused somebody else of putting puppies in a blender and drinking them. It was a sick joke but when I heard this song for the first time, I couldn't help but make this less than obvious connection. A striking irony throughout all this is that Les Claypool went to Berkeley, the liberal hotbed of the 1960's. By the 1980's rolled around, Berkeley's youth had become the fascist professors that they themselves in the 1960's. Berkeley's political youth were very conservative stumping their own homegrown politician named Ronald Reagan and printing their own right-wing rags. I guess it goes to show that not every college student of the day was influenced by this...anybody in this country who is anti-war is automatically dubbed as a leftist thinker. In my mind, Claypool is a genre unto himself. 'Too Many Puppies' should be a staple during any anti-war protest. Great song, worthy of a listen if you can get past the menacing sound of it.

Does no one really get the double meaning here?? It alludes to war and drugs going hand in hand with the undersided tactics of varous goverments!! Puppies; poppies.. get it? Poppies.. shot in the dark. Think about it for a minute and then evaluate it a second time. Double entendres people.. clever isn't he? That is true genius.

Wow JAStewart, you've got some seriosly good ears!! I had always thaught the repition of "too many puppies" was about over population, but after seeing the lyrics i'd say that's probably wrong
