This song is bowed on an upright bass, but it sounds fine on an
electric fretless bass, or even a fretted, although it sounds
better on a fretless.

| As a new member to this site, I am glad that this is the first song I post my comments on. I agree more that this song is about the dissappearance of certain genres of music than that it is a religious statement. This is illustrated in Larry's hair metal costume in the video and the simple fact that Les is playing an upright bass, an instrument that is nontraditional and past its climax of popularity. And besides, does Les really seem like a religious guy? | |

| The second verse, I believe, is about the crusades. It makes even more sense if you interject the word "to" before damn, so it's, "Let's cruise the Bastard Boat [to] damn them sonsabitches with their gill-nets set afloat". And of course the people with the gill-nets are the ones trying to convert people to their point of view. Him flipping on the tele to "watch the waters die" is seeing basically the news about the wars going on in the world that tend to be fought over religion. Of course the final line of that and the next verse is questioning God, "C'mon, Mr. Krinkle, tell me why." | |

| MMmmmm maybe I think this song is about the presidents of television, fishing and music companies, who take decisions about what you can see and what you can hear, and how many decision they can take. I think (overall) its about capitalism. He dressed in a pig suite cause he put himself like a "bourgeois pig". The corporate men can take decision about your enviroment. In the video, a lot of stuff and characters are moving fast without sence cause their are like the TV and the commercial things: their are always changing how they like by the time. Mr Krinkle could be someone who made decision about our lifes and habits: the music, the tastes, the hobbies, etc... Well, I think that its about that (sorry about my English... its not my natal languaje) | |

| I believe the title is a reference to the film Taxi Driver. In the film, Travis uses the alias when asked by the secret service agent. "My name is Henry Krinkle. K-R-I-N-K-L-E." | |

| The hotel name thing is true. I agree with Kyle Chizeck in terms of the metaphor, though I think it also refers to our changing identity generally. | |
