| Not that this could help much but the chorus line "... as the miller told his tale" I believe is referring to Geoffrey Chaucer's Canterbury Tales. In the Canterbury Tales a variety of people on a pilgrimage tell stories, the miller tells his tale which is knid of dirty and raunchy. Sorry this probably doesn't add much to the meaning, just confuses it more. | |

| the version i've got goes something like this: we skipped the light fandango turned cartwheels 'cross the floor i was feeling kind of seasick the crowd called out for more the room was humming harder as the ceiling flew away when we called out for another drink the waiter brought a trail(?) and so there was that later as the mirror told its tale that her face at first just ...(?) turned a whiter shade of pale ..and so on. | |

| If you listen to the lyrics, it is about a sinking ship...references to Mermaids, and Neptune, and "crashing" to the floor or the sea..etc Possibly, the titanic... either way, I first heard this song as when i was maybe 3 in the late1970's and it creeped me out then. When I was about 12 and started dabbling in poetry and lyrics, it painted a sure picture of death...and now It is clear to me. The song makes me feel as if everyone around me has died and I am left alone. | |
