| A lot of this song is referring to mine (and possibly Schwab's...) favorite poem: T.S. Elliot's "The Hollow Men" "We Are the Hollow Men, The Stuffed Men, With Heads Full of Straw" My tip off was the line about "This is how the World ends...Again" in Hollow Men the final lines are "This is the way the world ends, not with a bang but a whimper." The entire poem is about looking back on life and the people within it, the "Truthless Heroes" and "Hollow Men" and seeing how meaningless and empty the entire ordeal was. In an apoclyptic prediction he presumes that society will eventually just choke itself out rather than a doomsday sort of drama. So, if we look at it from this perspective the character is perhaps looking back on the futility of his life? | |

| Found it Ironic that after i did a lesson on "Soma", my all time fav project 86 song and the track right before this one, that Sarah comes up to me and asks "so ya, it's like thru all their empty lives you're left meaningless, or Hollow". It's prolly no coincidence that Macabre placed this song after Soma. Soma goes "Now I'm fadeing away" Hollow Again goes "But there is something I must say Before I fade away" Pretty much, that if we follow what everyone else tells us, we will forever be hollow. We lose all identity. You have to stand for what you believe it or what's the purpose of being alive? Stand up for your God. "How will we open the eyes of the dead When we are hollow... Hollow... And all along here I was told By fallen men in their charade That we could find a hope inside The safety of this empty place" That empty place is a truthless hero, "and how will we open the eyes of the dead" refers to Zombies, which comes from One Armed Man [Play On] (from Drawing Black Lines). Zombies are people who have no mind of their own. | |
