| Fighting personal conflict, and trying to leave the past behind. Within this personal conflict, there are many things, such as the fear of death, fear of dying without leaving a mark somewhere, and there's this feeling that they will get a better life if they move away from their past. But then, we're all under the power of consensus, and nothing heppened to change anything, so the lives remain the same. | |

| "Farce and death walk hand in hand. Graves and memorial walls hold my family name. Pills and bottles do the same. I hope that freedom's coming our way." that is probably the best lyrical statement in a while and i love how this wonderful song ends.. its a relaluy great song but hey what propagandhi song isnt?! | |

| i actually had a bit of a different idea of this song. a bit less political. possibly its about how - kind of a more general version of what wanglo said - how young kids are so passionate when theyre young. kids are so idealistic, wanting to actually accomplish things and become something or maybe make a difference in the world. maybe this is just my own ranting superimposed on the song, but then through school and all the other bullshit kids are put through, they all realize that all the fights are unwinnable and give up. "the fight never happened. the crowd petered out. we all dribbled home. mission accomplished." the system worked, the masses are silenced. the 12 year old revolutionary is now sitting in a cubicle wearing a suit and tie. well thats my two cents on the matter. | |

| hmm, well my interperpretation of this song might add a different view seeing as i live within a mile or two from chris hannah (singer/guitarist) in winnipeg, and the fact that in this area of winnipeg there is a severe problem with youth violence, primarily between 2 rival gangs known as the indian posse, and deuce, this would make sense for this song ' prepubes swarm the hill like flies'.... jackknives in socks... and all that jazz... 'the drinking dont intercept this north end horde' the north end of winnipeg is where both of these gangs are based, and that, being the poorest area of town is also subject to a lot of street people abusing substances... 'fighting a war that i cant win' well now... gang violence doesnt really benefit anyone now does it.... and theres really no winner, seeing as they all just retaliate in an escalation of revenge... also in the poorer areas of town primarily inhabited by aboriginals in our case, despair anger and boredeom really take their toll on the youth... 'thats if the anger dont, thats if the boredom dont' | |

| I thought it was about their pessimism to political movements. They all start optimistic and with lots of support, but eventually people get bored and give up. So in this song it builds up this tension, and then just peters out. It links to the theme in other songs like Albright Monument Baghdad, where too they are criticizing how people refuse to commit themselves to movements. | |

| I agree with No Hero, up above there. The only other thing I might add to this is that it could be about fighting the system. The anger and desire to make a change and shake the system to the ground is strong (especially as young kids, "pre-pubes") but as you get older you let other things get in the way (boredom, drinking, etc.) People move on without fighting, and in the end nothing changes because everyone's drive petered out. | |

| Literally there is lots of reference to protests... War? Maybe. I don't know. March of The Crabs is a time of year on Christmas Island where 130 million land crabs march down a hill to lay eggs in the water and then march back up the hill till sexual maturity leaving nothing behind and letting nothing stand in the way. Closer to the end " Graves and memorial walls hold my family name. Pills and bottles do the same." I think that this is a definate anti-war stance. " The fight never happened. The crowd petered out. We all dribbled home. Mission accomplished." A successful protest probably encouraging more to get off their fucking asses and not let the governement paint blood on societies hands. Propagandhi's position not mine. Am I wrong? | |
