Hahah. I love this song. It's like, the anti-lovesong, making fun of overly sappy, heartfelt, vomit-inducing love ballads. And the ending with all the band members shouting "fuck" is great. Every song ever should end like that. And "punk" has had so many definitions over the years, it's damn near impossible to assign it one universal meaning. The Clash was the definitive political punk band, whereas the Sex Pistols embodied the true "hey fuck you" punk attitude, and Crass was the true DIY "fight the system, stick it to the man" punk. Even the Ramones made an important contribution - their easy 3-chord songs set a precedent for simple songwriting, allowing punk to be more accessible to teens, who, admittedly, are usually not very musically proficient yet. And let's face it: without teens, punk would have died a long time ago. Which of these elements truly embodies the spirit of punkrawk? That's purely opinion. Personally, I think if you remove the influence of any of these bands, you'd get an incomplete picture of what punk is, and what it has come to be. ...what HAS it come to be, you ask? Fuck if I know, man. ...Luckily, there are bands like Propagandhi around to keep the true spirit of punk alive. Even if bands like NFG, who sing about fucking GIRL problems, and NOFX, who just spout on and on about Bush (we get it, he's a bad president) may get all the fame and glory, there will always be bands like Propagandhi around to remind people what punk truly is. Or at least... what it once was.
