Biography

Hailing from New York City, New York, USA, Radio 4 was originally formed in spring 1999 by Greg Collins (drums), Anthony Roman (bass/vocals) and Tommy Williams Jnr. (guitar/vocals). The trio adopted their unusual name not from the UK radio station, but after a song by post-punk revolutionaries PiL. Looking to PiL's contemporaries such as Gang Of Four and Mission Of Burma for inspiration, Radio 4 signed a recording contract with the independent Gern Blandsten label and issued a self-titled 7-inch single (most notable for lead track "Beat Around The Bush").
