Artist: Radiohead
Song: How To Disappear Completely And Never Be Found
Album: Unreleased as of 3/20/00
Author: Dan Coates (dcoates@disconnect.net)
As this is an unreleased song, I thought it would be kind of
pointless to try to tab it note for note, since the final version
of the song on the album (if it ever gets on an album) could be
very different. So this is just some basic pieces of the song
from the first ever performance of it, in Los Angeles on April 1,
1998.
This part (left) repeats for most of the song, sometimes dropping
an octave lower (right).
G------------------------9---|----------------------------------
D--11--7--9--------7--9------|------------------------2---------
A------------7--9------------|---4--0--2--------0--2------------
E----------------------------|------------0--2------------------
There are only a couple variations, one of them being this
(and its equivalent on the lower octave... figure it out):
G---------------------11-9--11-9------------------------9-------
D--11--7--9--------7--------------11--7--9--------7--9----------
A------------7--9---------------------------7--9----------------
E---------------------------------------------------------------
Then in a couple parts of the song, like after Thom sings "Yeah,
it's gone" and at the end of the song, you just play the bit on
the left there, and the part on the right gets thrown in a couple
times too.
G-----------------------------|---------------------------------
D-----------------------------|---------------7-6---------------
A---7-9-9-9-9-9-7-9-9-9-9-9---|---7-7-7-7-7-7-----7---(etc.)----
E-----------------------------|---------------------------------
There you have it. This is the first tab I've ever written (not
counting handwritten stuff on my own), but I think it's about as
accurate as it gets. Hope you like it - it's an excellent song.

| I even love the title of this song. I love the lonely, chilling feeling to this song, too. My favorite line is "I'm not here, this isn't happening." I feel like that a lot. | |

| This is the most amazing song radiohead has ever written. well not totally cause tom's got some honorable skills for poetry. but yeah. usually when i listen to this song i go into my room, turn off the light and play it in a medium tone. it's so great. it makes me cry whenever i hear his voice. oh my i don't know what this song really means but it's so spiritual. it let's something out of you everytime. it's so wonderful! RADIOHEAD IS GOD!!! | |

| actually, it is liffey and that part is based on a dream: "Thom, when asked about the words 'I float down the Liffey": "i dreamt i was floating down the liffey and there was nothing i could do. i was flying around Dublin. and I really was in the Dream. the whole song is my experiances of really floating' (19/12/99)" | |

| Mishes said it best...for the 5:56 that this song is playing the rest of the world ceases to exist. Much like Street Spirit and Rabbit in Your Headlights (whose video is one of the best i have ever seen). | |

| I went to see radiohead on their last tour at Liberty State Park in New Jersey summer of 2001. This song brought tremondous chills down everyone's spine. This is the best song on the album. It can stir up such intense emotion in you. It makes you think of some part of your life that you miss, and are sad about not having, (just my interpretation) but it still makes you feel amazing. The melody is incredible, and Thom Yorke's voice as always is beautiful and captivating.... | |

| yeah, i have a different opinion about it, it is trash, along with the whole album it came with. Kid Anus is possibly the flattest, drabbest, most shoulder-shrugging pathetic LP I've ever had the opportunity to hear. It's the sound of an unpleasant man wiping his arse on your money and goodwill. He wants you not to buy it, for Christ's sake! The least you could do is oblige him. | |

| escape. total escape. you’re breathing, then you question if it’s necessary. from there, your mind becomes susceptible to everything. this song is the closest thing to detachment I have ever felt. the only thing that makes me realize I am still here is the lachrymosity. just that friendly little reminder that there is no full escape. so find comfort in the moment before you realize it’s gone, only then you can acquaint yourself with true loss, and thereafter, true worth. in short, this song is okay.. kind of superficial if you ask me though. but all in all, a nice, happy sound. *grimace* | |

| liffey - the river in that runs through dublin... according to greenplastic.com the band were playing there when thom wrote this track... he just wanted to get out of the way of the media and retreat into his own little cocoon so to speak... that only one point of view though...hehe i love this song, one of my faves on the album...and it's great for when u just want to sit in a darkened room on your own and contemplate life etc... mmmmmmmm :o) | |

| as many have said, such a beautiful song. incidentally, the title comes from a book written by doug richmond entitled "how to disappear completely and never be found". it explains in some detail how to fake your death and disappear, leaving no trace and never being found. it's a concept that crosses my mind occasionally and isn't without it's appeal. there's an attraction to the idea of walking away from it all and not being missed or remembered, just gone. | |

| This song is one of my favourites. It really just makes you forget anything that's been bothering you. It's just one of those songs. Can't really be described, and everyone has a different opinion about it. | |
