Without A Face by Rage Against The Machine
tabbed by r.allen.canterbury
Quick note -- the C+F diad (8 on E and A strings simultaneously) sounds a bit
different each time Tim plays it on the CD. Sometimes the C is accented and
sometimes the F is accented. I put a ! beside the note that sounds (to me)
more accented. If using a pick strike the diad by hitting the note with the !
beside it first (either down pick or up pick depending). If playing with
fingers, pluck the accented string a little harder to make that note ring out
louder. Any suggestions or corrections are appreciated!

| This is a great example of Rage lyrics at their finest. The song's about an illegal Mexican immigrant working in the US to send money back home to his family. The lyrics are fucking amazing in this song. "I jack for Similac, fuck a Cadillac" refers to not even being able to think about owning a car and having to steal for something as basic as baby formula. One of my favorite lyrics of all time is "It's my life for their life, so call it a free trade." Free trade referring to a free market or capitalist economy, but he uses word play to point out that the immigrant is trading his life to keep his family alive (at the same time pointing out that illegal immigrants, as well as lower class people, remain in poverty in order to maintain class systems that keep capitalist societies afloat). Pure fucking genius. | |

| "jura got my number on a wire tap" jura - spanish/calo for the police. "you down with DDT, yeah you know me" a play on the lyrics "you down with OPP, yeah you know me" by Naughty by Nature "War tape boomin'" a sickening part of war (past and present) is that soldiers frequently play what they refer to as "killing music" - music that hypes them up to kill. It varies in genre and no one style can be given as an example. | |

| Nobody seemed to mention the last part of the song. He's telling us that by fortifying, or building defenses on, the border we are dividing the country. | |
